I have heard many reports back from the Otter in Newbridge and to be quite frank they have not been very good. has anybody had a good meal there or is the gossip fact?

I used it a few months ago. The food was very bad. The veg seemed to be frozen then heated in the microwave. It was black on the top but a watery mush underneath. I think it is just a fancy looking fast food chain rather than a restaurant. The staff were completely glazed over too. Not their fault, there probably isn't a lot going on to grab their attention, other than waiting for machines to ping!
The building interior is really bland and generic too.
Its such a shame, it would be very nice to have somewhere to go locally that had a bit of nice food and a bit of character.

The Church Inn, Mynyddislwyn is always a great place to go for a meal, we have been a few times over the past few months and to be fair, the place seems to be struggling a little. Not through any fault of their own. Since the smoking ban has been in force, many pubs have suffered. I am a smoker, but would never dream of lighting up in a restaurant or pub if anyone else was eating. The food is excellent thaough at the Church. Funny thing that I noticed last time we visited though. They are now serving thingytails, it just seems to take the character away from the place I think.

The Church is great! I was just thinking I should post that. The food is always fantastic and value for money and the views are amazing. It just never seems to be open when you need it!

No! I think it is only open in the evenings. But I am not sure if it is open during the day in the Summer. What would be great is the same sort of pub in one of the villages, I know you would not have the views, but if only to have home cooked food.

The word is c o c k t a i l s but the forum will not let me use the first part of the word. It is something to stop fowl language being used on the site. Thanks for letting me know about it. Steve
