We recently got ourselves a dog. He is a great dog, doesn't pull on the lead while out walking. Everything is great. Except the lack of Dog Wast Bins. We have walked our dog aroung a lot of the Sirhowy Valley Walk areas in Pontllanfriath but so far have only spotted 2 of the before mentioned bins. I do not mind carrying it for a while, but to have to carry it for over 1 hour during our walk is a little bit too much. I would really get my hair off while out walking with our children when we would see dogs mess everywhere, now I see why.

I assume it has something to do with ease of collecting the waste. Pen-y-fan pond is another case in point, two bins at one end of the car park that are always overflowing with general rubbish as well as dog mess. I always wonder if there is a biodegradable way of storing waste, if we could use biodegradable bags and put them in a special area where they will break down and not need collecting. Lots of those could be dispersed along long walk routes.
While we are on the subject I think the lids on the council dog litter bins are the wrong way round. It makes is very difficult to put your waste in a full bin without smearing the contents of the bin over your arm.
You'll soon get used to long walks swinging a foul bag, but yes, it'll always annoy you!

I don't own a dog but sympathise with those that do and want to do the "proper and correct " thing...clean up their dog's waste. Something I find very annoying is the number of people who take their dogs for strolls down streets and allow them to foul where ever and not clean up! Drives the devil into me! Has anyone else noticed there is always a mess near the car-park in town? The one next to the petrol station - and right by the entrance!

We once had some great, brown paper doggie-doo bags. If I can find any more I'll let you know. By the way, I once saw a woman holding a bag under her dog's bum as he did his business! What a pampered pooch! Still, it saves having to scoop it up I suppose!

Just make sure you do take some bags, guys. I read yesterday that Gordon Lorenz, the songwriter/record producer responsible for the hit There's No-one Quite Like Grandma, was fined £200 by Conwy council, for failing to clear up after his pooch fouled a local beach and cycle path!
Now that's karma! ;D

Well it ended up that the dog that we had through Adtrader, was actually stolen, so this chap turned up Sunday morning, asking about our dog Max, turned out, Max was stolen by his 29 year old son and advertised on Adtrader.co.uk. We all fell in love with Max, but the chap who turnrd up on Sunday took ol' Maxy with him. Now we are all gutted and really miss the old fella.
